For our second easy Halloween cupcake idea, we’re working with a black and white theme. We’ve featured one of our favorite things in the world, Peeps candy. We recommend you buy two containers of icing or if you’re making from scratch, make enough to fill two small pastry bags. We made the black icing using a few drops of Wilton food coloring gel. Just mix it up in a bowl until you get a nice even color. Then scoop it in the pastry bag. It’s messy, you have been warned. Even if they did stain our fingers black, we love the bold, graphic appeal of these. You could do a second set of orange and black featuring Peeps marshmallow pumpkins if you’re feeling extra clever.
Step one: Using a larger round tip and a pastry bag filled with white marshmallow icing, squeeze a swirl of icing on cupcake as shown. Leave space for the black icing.
Step two: Starting at the open outer edge using a pastry bag filled with black marshmallow icing, squeeze a swirl of icing on cupcake as shown. Try to fill in the empty spaces.
Step three: Insert a toothpick into the bottom of a Peeps ghost.
Step four: Insert Peep into center of cupcake as shown.
That’s it! Fun, fast, and faBOOlous!
